Ad Markesteijn

I trained under Ad Markesteijn since the end of 2004 till April 2008. He approached me somewhere in October of 2004. Before that I trained with some of my friends (all the same age) and I did every event. I was the only one who liked to run. I decided to join Ad Markesteijn's group with only runners from the age of 15 (me) till almost 50years. The first months I only trained at Tuesdays, one time a week. The rest of the week I did other events with my old group. Somewhere in the summer I made a decision to leave my old group full of friends and I started training twice a week on the track and I did one easy run in the weekends. I got injured at the end of 2005, because I needed an inlay for my shoe, but that conclusion took a while. In February of 2006 I started to train again twice a week on the track and two times at home. I've been training regularly since then and at the time Ad Markesteijn quit, I was training 40-45miles a week in the winter and 25-30miles in the summer, 5-6times a week.

I've had some great moments in the time I was training under Ad Markesteijn, but also some dissapointing moments.

My best results were:
- National Champion 1500m under 18years in 2006 (six months after I started to train regularly).
- Break 4.00min on the 1500m, 3.59,96 Papendal Games Arnhem 13-06-07.
- National Indoor champion 1500m under 20years in 2008.
- Several medals on indoor championships in 2007 and 2008. 2silver, 1bronze.

Dissapointing moments were:
- Missing the EYOF (European Championships under 18years) with 0.48seconds.
- Couldn't defend my 1500m outdoor title due to an injury in 2007.
- National Indoor Championships in 2007. 4th on 1500m, 2nd on 3000m because I had a fever.
